The Rainbow Democrats would like to congratulate Commissioner Patty Sheehan on her re-election to the Orlando City Commission!

Patty Sheehan, Orlando’s first out LGBTQ+ City Commissioner, was elected in 2000 and continues to be a public servant to her constituency and all of Orlando. She is a strong proponent of the arts, the environment, and of course LGBTQ+ advocacy. Commissioner Sheehan has partnered with Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and then Police Chief John Mina to launch the Orlando Police Department’s Safe Place Initiative. The Safe Place Initiative provides the community with safe places throughout the city where they can turn to if they become a victim of a hate crime or feel threatened or harassed.

Patty Sheehan now enters her sixth consecutive term as Orlando’s first, and now longest-serving LGBTQ+ City official.

Congrats on making history!!
