October 4, 2020 ORLANDO, FL – Today, the Rainbow Democrats caucus have announced their endorsement of Vicki-Elaine Felder, candidate for Orange County School Board District 5. Rainbow Democrats President Brandon Nelson issued the following statement on the Caucus’ endorsement:
As a current educator in Orange County Public Schools (OCPS), Vicki Felder will advocate for the needs of her students, their parents, and the community. She has lived and attended school in the district, which means she is well known and active. Vicki also understands the necessity for a robust communications medium between the school board and the schools.
Additionally, she is an ally to the LGBTQ+ community and will ensure that LGBTQ+ students are not subjected to harmful policies at the school board’s hands. Having her on the school board as an ally to the LGBTQ+ community alongside School Board member Dr. Karen Castor-Dentel will help ensure that the school board doesn’t make decisions that would be harmful to the students of Orange County. Adding her 39 years of experience in education, her support for LGBTQ Youth, and understanding that communication is one of several keys to success is why we have endorsed her in this race.
