ORLANDO, FL – Today, the Rainbow Democrats caucus have announced their endorsement in the race for Orange County Property Appraiser.

Rainbow Democrats President Brandon Nelson issued the following statement on the Caucus’ endorsement:

“Representative Amy Mercado will bring her legislative, professional and public service knowledge and experience to the office of Orange County Property Appraiser. As Property Appraiser, Rep. Mercado promises to serve as the link between property owners in Orange County, the real estate community and the Property Appraiser’s office. Rep. Mercado understands the importance of the Property Appraiser role in that the appraiser helps to ensure that schools, libraries and public safety departments are adequately funded. Her focus will be to prioritize transparency, efficiency and exceptional customer service, in addition to ensuring fair valuations of property, and responsible spending within the Property Appraiser’s office.

In her four years in the Florida legislature, Representative Mercado has proven that she will always look out for the people of Florida and listen to her constituents. As an example of her commitment to her constituents and Floridians, one of the many bills she sponsored this year was to give Florida’s working families a tax rebate, aptly named the “Florida working families tax rebate program” bill. She has also shown that she supports the LGBTQ community, as she has co-sponsored a bill to ban conversion therapy in the state and has affirmed that LGBTQ Floridians should be free to live their truth. It is with this praise that the Rainbow Democrats offer an exuberant endorsement of Representative Amy Mercado for Orange County Property Appraiser!”
